EULER BIRTHDAY BASH AT THE SWISS RESIDENCE
APRIL 15, 2007
SWISS EMBASSY, WASHINGTON DC
April 16, 2007 marked the 300th anniversary of the birth of Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler, and the Embassy celebrated in style with a lecture by Prof. Lee Stemkoski and an enormous chocolate birthday cake. This special program was held in cooperation with the Mathematical Association of America.!
Prof. Stemkoski of the Adelphi College spoke about the Euler Archive, an online resource of Euler’s works and also presented highlights from Euler’s amazingly prolific life. Twelve different posters featuring some of Euler’s ingenious solutions to problems were on display at the Embassy and the Swiss Residence. Guests enjoyed reading them over a glass of Prosecco and a slice of Birthday Cake. Happy Birthday Magister Euler!
