All Swiss universities have student exchange programs with U.S. universities. However, not all these are actively used and as a rule fewer U.S. students are spending a semester or year in Switzerland. – In contrast, the desire of Swiss students for a study abroad experience in the USA is still high. Currently many of the Universities of Applied Sciences are looking for U.S. partner institutions in order to extend their offer of exchange programs.

A better promotion of Switzerland as a place of excellent higher education, with a wide range of English study programs, would be highly beneficial to the Swiss universities and the bilateral Swiss-U.S. relationship. The strengthening of “The U.S. Fulbright – Swiss Scholarship Program”, the creation and distribution of better information and promotion materials, as well as a Swiss Summer School in 2008 will be central elements of this topic.
