Title:
Architecture and Vision (AV): From Pyramids to Spacecraft
When:
March 08, 2010 - May 04, 2010
Where:
Minneapolis

Description

Architecture and Vision is the Swiss-Italian architecture and design duo Arturo Vittori and Andreas Vogler. Their joint practice specializes in AeroSpace technologies applied to Architecture and Design by creating projects for use in outer space and in the most challenging environments of our own planet. AV aims to define a new spirit of place for the “space age”, one sustained by the cutting edge of science and technology and an entirely new understanding of the value of resources such as water, energy, food and air.

After their successful visit in 2008, AV is coming back to the U.S. and will be present at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis showing their exhibition "From Pyramids to Spacecraft" with selected projects displayed on explanative panels like “MoonBaseTwo” (2007) for conducting experiments on the Moon, and “MarsCruiserOne” (2007), a pressurized mobile lab vehicle for exploring Mars. The exhibition runs in the Rapson Hall at the Minneapolis Campus from Monday, March 8 until May 2010.

Andreas Vogler and Arturo Vittori will open with their lecture "From Pyramids to Spacecraft" taking place on Monday, March 8, 6:00 pm in the Rapson Hall and teach at the weeklong School of Architecture Catalyst workshop.
