The Consulate General of Switzerland presented two exciting events in partnership with Fermilab:
A presentation by Fermilab Director Pier Oddone and a behind-the-scenes tour of Fermilab's facilities.

On Tuesday, March 23, the Director of Fermilab, Dr. Pier Oddone, honored over 80 guests with an outstanding presentation at the residence of the Swiss Consul General in Chicago, Mr. Giambattista Mondada. Intellectually and culinarily, as Dr. Oddone underlined, “it was a delightful evening”.

Whoever wanted to know more about the Higgs, protons, the dark matter and energy, had the unique opportunity of visiting Fermilab itself on Thursday, March 25. Brilliant speakers from Fermilab, Argonne and the University of Illinois and a guided tour through the laboratory’s facilities delivered great insight into the magnificent world of particle physics. At the end of the day, everybody agreed with Consul General Mondada: “It was a fantastic experience! As good as it can get!”.

At the Department of Energy's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, thousands of scientists from universities and laboratories across the country and around the world collaborate on experiments in order to open doorways of discovery. Fermilab is the U.S. host laboratory for the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. Some 1,700 U.S. scientists from 87 universities and seven national laboratories carry out research at the LHC, the world's new energy-frontier accelerator.
