The American University’s School of International Service and the Embassy of Switzerland will host a timely discussion that will explore comparative approaches to generating a new understanding of energy efficiency.
The event will kick off the showcase of the traveling exhibition “Smarter Living: The 2,000-Watt Society.” The exhibit shows ways to significantly reduce energy consumption through smarter living. In particular, the exhibition highlights how the requirements of the 2,000-Watt Society can be combined with outstanding architecture. It uses 18 examples to illustrate different approaches to sustainable architecture such as complex technical solutions and clever references to traditional construction methods, small buildings and very large projects, conversions and new city districts. The exhibition will be on display from September 20 until September 29 at the School of International Service of American University.
The event will be our contribution to AIA’s Architecture Week in Washington. It will take place on September 21 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in the new School of International Service building which was recently awarded the LEED Gold designation. This is now not only the largest school of international affairs in the world, but also the greenest. A few introductory remarks will be made at 6:15 p.m. with the panel beginning at 6:30 p.m.
