Title:
TRAVELING EXHIBITION: THE CHALLENGE OF SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION
When:
February 10, 2009 - April 19, 2009

Description

STOPS:

  • NATIONAL BUILDING MUSEUM & GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY
  • UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN
  • EARTH DAY, MALL, WASHINGTON, D.C.
  • APTA CONFERENCE, CHICAGO

The two events in Washington, D.C. marked the official opening of the traveling exhibit while Michigan was its first destination throughout the U.S. The event launching the ThinkSwiss exhibit was organized together with our partner institutions, the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) and the Swiss Federal Office of Transport.

The exhibit aims to look at the strengths and challenges of the Swiss and U.S. public transportation systems and also fosters bilateral dialogue. It presents information on policies, incentives, infrastructure maintenance plans, urbanism, pricing concepts and timetables.

Ultimately the exhibition is not only on public transportation, but also on values that are of great importance to both societies. Experts, students, scientists and others enjoyed the workshops and praised the exhibition’s very interesting facts and clear messages.

"Yours was the most enjoyable exhibit, primarily because you actively involved us in learning.
Thank you for the opportunity and to do it in such a fun way!" said Mary, an Earth Day participant on the Mall in Washington, D.C.
