Everything was set for the discovery of Earth 2.0 - a planet similar to Earth with liquid water on the surface. After spotting close to 300 planets outside our solar system, scientists are now zooming in with new tools on small Earth-like planets. Prof. Didier Queloz of University of Geneva and Debra Fischer, San Francisco State University talked about the latest research and discovery in the hunt for exoplanets.
The two leading planet hunters Didier Queloz, University of Geneva, and Debra Fischer, San Francisco State University, talked about their search for planets outside our solar system (exoplanets) and the possibility of finding an earth-like planet, with liquid water on the surface. In a very interactive discussion, the audience could evaluate its ideas of the search for such a planet and how it could look like. Lynette Cook, well-known portraitist of planets, painted the outcome of this discussion live on the imagined surface of one of the most recent discoveries: Gliese 581 c. For the following 3 weeks, swissnex held an exhibition of Lynette's work."
