THINKSWISS TRAVEL GRANTS FOR SWISS LIFE SCIENCES SUMMER SCHOOLS

In 2008, five top Swiss universities will host life sciences summer schools: One will take place at the EPFL in cooperation with the University of Lausanne, a second at the University of Zurich in a joint program with the ETH Zurich, and a third at the University of Basel.

ThinkSwiss is offering travel grants to highly qualified and motivated U.S. participants in the 2008 Summer School Programs. The students will benefit from hands-on research, training and exposure to cutting-edge issues within a professional research community. Awardees of the travel grants will share their experiences by contributing to the ThinkSwiss Research Blog

The selection of the U.S. students for the 2008 Basel Nursing Summer School will be done directly by the University of Basel. Successful U.S. candidates will receive travel grants and will not have to pay a participation fee!

2008 Interdisciplinary Summer School on Advanced Quantitative Research Methods
The 2008 Basel Nursing Summer School is delighted to offer a one-week intensive practice-oriented research training course for doctoral students in advanced quantitative design and statistical analysis in the health science fields of Nursing, Public Health, and Medicine. Participants will be introduced to advanced quantitative methods focusing on the integration of research design and statistical approaches to analyze data, and the interpretation of the results from the application of these statistical methods. The course combines morning lectures and afternoon seminars with hands-on practice, giving students the opportunity to immediately apply the various data analysis techniques presented beforehand. Applicants for the afternoon sessions must be currently involved as a doctoral student in a clinical research project using quantitative methods in the design and analysis. The Summer School will take place in Basel, Switzerland, from August 18 to 22, 2008. The online application form and further information can be found at the Institute of Nursing Science.
