EPFL Lausanne, School of Life Sciences: Summer Research Scholar Program 2011
The Life Sciences summer research program, organized at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), offers intensive research training opportunities to talented undergraduate students ïnterested in research careers in the life sciences. lt provides the participants with unique opportunities for hands-on laboratory research experience under the supervision of distinguished faculty/researchers and also seeks to enrich the participants experience outside the laboratory through their participation in a series of seminars (e.g. ethics, planning a scientific career), social activities, and informal interactions with members of the scientific community at the EPFL.

University of Zurich and ETH Zurich: Biology Undergraduate Summer School (BUSS) 2011
The Zurich Biology Undergraduate Summer School (BUSS) is a joint initiative of the University of Zurich (UZH) and ETH Zurich (ETHZ). This 9-week international program gives undergraduate students in the life sciences the chance to perform a significant research project in one of the participating laboratories of UZH or ETHZ. Thanks to the intense curriculum of the BUSS, participating students not only become familiar with laboratory methods and theoretical principles, but also gain skills in scientific reasoning and scientific communication.

EPFL Lausanne, Architecture Section: Summer School 2011 - Desperate Houses
EPFL Lausanne decided to renounce organizing the Summer School "Desperate Houses" this summer. One of the main reasons is that they were in relationship with a Japanese university as one of the partner universities on this project. In the light of the tragic events that occurred they are obliged to renounce to it. At the same time, one of the three organizers and teachers had to give up his participation for medical reasons. Thank you for your understanding.

ETH Zürich Vision and Sports Summer School 2011
Vision and Sports is a special special kind of summer school. In  addition to a broad-range of lectures on state-of-the-art Computer Vision techniques, it offers exciting sport activities, such as Floorball, Climbing, and Table Tennis. Sports are organized by the same internationally renowned experts who deliver the lectures. The school offers the best of both worlds to participants: high-quality teaching on Computer Vision, and lots of fun with a variety of attractive sports. This offers plenty of opportunity for personal contact between students and teachers.

Accademia di architettura Mendrisio, Architecture Summer School 2011 - Environmentally Responsive Building Envelopes
The main ecological goal in architecture today is to reduce to a minimum – ideally to zero – the total primary energy needs of a building (i.e. the energy consumption for heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting).  The design of an environmentally responsive building envelope must be based on energy concepts which enable an interaction between the envelope, the building and the environment. This design task can only be tackled by means of an integrated approach to planning i.e. interdisciplinary collaboration between architects, facade and environmental engineers. In addition to practicing of the design of responsive building envelopes by means of integrated planning, visits of built examples will be organized. Lectures and design studios will take place during 1st and 3rd week. During the 2nd week the class will be traveling to London. A detailed programm is available on the website.
